
PeacePoly Commissions Prof. Sandra C. Duru Maternity & Clinic in Abak, Expands Access to Quality Healthcare
February 4, 2026 marked a significant milestone in the healthcare sector of Abak Local Government Area as Peace Polytechnic officially commissioned the Prof. Sandra C. Duru (Peace Poly) Maternity & Clinic at Kilometer 4, Mbarakom, Abak.
The commissioning ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, academics, healthcare professionals, friends of Peace Polytechnic, and well-wishers, all united in celebrating the establishment of a modern healthcare facility dedicated to improving the well-being of the people.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Medical Consultant, Dr. Richard Akpabio, an experienced medical practitioner with years of professional practice both within and outside Nigeria, reaffirmed the clinic’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services. He noted that the Prof. Sandra C. Duru Maternity & Clinic is well-equipped with modern medical facilities and competent personnel to provide comprehensive healthcare services, including major medical procedures, maternal and child healthcare, and emergency medical care.
Dr. Akpabio emphasized that the vision of the clinic is to become one of the leading healthcare institutions in the region by offering accessible, affordable, and professional medical services while promoting the health and well-being of residents across Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Chairman of Abak Local Government Council, who was represented by the Vice Chairman. Also present was Professor Peace E. Traditional rulers, village heads, friends of Peace Polytechnic, and other notable personalities added colour and prestige to the historic occasion.
Following the official commissioning, the institution immediately commenced a Free Medical Outreach, providing beneficiaries with free medical consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and essential healthcare services. The outreach reflected Peace Polytechnic’s unwavering commitment to community service and its vision of making quality healthcare accessible to all.
